Frequently asked

PropertyPeeker FAQ

Everything you might wonder about how PropertyPeeker helps renters find better apartments.

What is PropertyPeeker?

PropertyPeeker is an apartment search and review platform built exclusively for renters. It helps apartment hunters search for rentals, read summarized tenant reviews from real residents, and get clear insights about buildings and neighborhoods — all in one place.

Should I search for an apartment complex or an individual unit?

Search for the apartment complex name or its main building address and city. Leave out the unit number when possible. Our reports focus on the whole property — including shared resident experiences, management, maintenance, and recurring issues — rather than a specific apartment unit.

Can I research a single-family home?

PropertyPeeker is designed for apartment complexes and multifamily apartment buildings, not single-family homes or standalone house rentals. Individual homes generally do not have property-wide resident reviews, so we cannot provide the same review-based insights for them.

Does every apartment complex have resident reviews?

No. Review availability varies by property. A complex may have few or no publicly available resident reviews; missing reviews do not mean the property is good or bad. Search the complex name and main building address for the best chance of matching the right property.

How is PropertyPeeker different from Zillow or Apartments.com?

Most listing platforms are built to serve landlords and property managers who pay to advertise. PropertyPeeker is built for renters. Instead of ranking results by advertiser spend, we rank by relevance to your needs. We also go beyond listings by aggregating and summarizing real tenant reviews, so you know what living in a building is actually like.

Is PropertyPeeker free to use?

Yes, PropertyPeeker is free to search and browse. Our mission is to make apartment hunting less stressful for renters everywhere.

How does PropertyPeeker generate its scores?

We aggregate publicly available data — tenant reviews, Google reviews, local news coverage, court records, and city housing-department complaints — and turn it into clear, comparable scores for safety, pests, management quality, and maintenance.

What does the review summary show me?

The review summary distills what past and current tenants are saying about a building into clear, readable takeaways. It highlights recurring themes — both positive and negative — such as how quickly management responds to maintenance requests, noise levels, pest issues, parking availability, and the overall quality of the building.

Can I trust the reviews on PropertyPeeker?

PropertyPeeker aggregates reviews from multiple sources and surfaces patterns rather than outliers. Rather than relying on a single review or a star rating, you get a synthesized picture of tenant sentiment over time — which is far more reliable than reading reviews one by one.

What types of apartments can I find on PropertyPeeker?

PropertyPeeker researches apartment complexes and multifamily apartment buildings across the United States, including properties with studios, 1-bedroom, 2-bedroom, and larger units. Reports cover the property as a whole, not individual units or single-family homes.

Will PropertyPeeker have listings in the future?

Yes — we're actively building out a direct listings feature so renters can search, review, and inquire about apartments all from one platform. Stay tuned.

Is PropertyPeeker available as a mobile app?

Yes. Download the PropertyPeeker iOS app from the App Store. You can also visit propertypeeker.com on any device for the full web experience.

Who is PropertyPeeker best for?

PropertyPeeker is best for renters who want more than a list of apartments — people who want to make a well-informed decision before signing a lease. It's especially useful for people relocating to a new city, first-time renters, and anyone who has been burned by a bad apartment in the past.
